Orthodontic Procedures

Banding: The process of attaching orthodontic bands to your back molars.

Bonding: The process of using an orthodontic paste to attach brackets to the front of your teeth.

Cephalometric x-ray: An x-ray showing the side view of your head. This x-ray is used to identify potential growth problems and for recording diagnostic measurements.

Consultation: A meeting with Dr. Arnold to discuss your treatment plan in detail.

Debanding: The process of removing orthodontic bands from your teeth.

Debonding: The process of removing orthodontic brackets from your teeth.

Impressions: Impressions are used to make a model or cast of your teeth. A tray with soft material is placed and will harden into a mold when it is removed from your mouth. These molds are used to make study models that Dr. Arnold will use to determine your unique treatment plan.

Initial Exam: This is your first appointment in our office. Dr. Arnold will examine you and then discuss potential treatment options. There is no charge for this appointment.

Orthodontic Records: This is an appointment where we will take a panoramic and cephalometric x-ray, impressions of your teeth for study models, and pictures of your teeth with a camera. Dr. Arnold will use these records to determine your treatment plan.

Panoramic X-ray: An x-ray taken by a machine that rotates around your head to take one full view x-ray of your upper and lower teeth and jaws.
